Albigna

Albigna

During the “Albigna Alpine Tour and Climbing Weekend”, we explored the beautiful Albigna area in Bergell. The scenery is stunning: a remote area with wild mountains and sharp ridges.

Four of us arrived on Friday and climbed some easier routes around the hut. In the evening, we wanted to plan for Saturday and were overwhelmed by the huge number of options. Christina and Florian decided to climb a new route through the south-west wall of Piz Balzet. Elena and Mario did the long ridge traverse from Scälin to Cima dal Cantun. As some of us were a bit exhausted from the long climbing day (and the fact that a rope got stuck in a granit crack), we decided to do a shorter route on Sunday together with Hansi, which lead us to Piz Casnil. A further rope team (Matija and Nicolas) went to Spazzacaldeira and climbed the famous Fiamma.

Altogether we were very lucky that we were not hit by any thunderstorms even though the weather forecast predicted a bit dodgy weather. As there are so many options for alpinism and climbing and our skills on granit slabs can be still improved, we have to come back next summer!
